Bergamot blends beautifully with Rooibos - a full bodied caffeine-free option
Earl Grey Rooibos
Although Earl Grey is normally associated with England and good, strong black tea, this unique variety is closely tied to South Africa. The reason is two-fold. First, the Rooibos that forms the base of this blend originated and is grown in South Africa. Second, the town Howick in South Africa is named after the 3rd Earl of Grey!
Like all great Earl grey blends, this tea is flavoured with all natural bergamot oil. Brew yourself a pot and note how well the citrus character engages with the mellow herbal character of the Rooibos. The taste is truly sublime! As Rooibos is naturally caffeine-free, you can enjoy your Earl Grey flavour anytime of the day or night.
The rules with brewing Rooibos are...there are no rules. Rooibos does not become bitter from over-steeping! Basically, the more you use and the longer you let it steep - the deeper the flavour. 1 tsp per cup is recommended. However, we personally find 1/2 tsp is sufficient. Bring fresh, filtered (if possible), water to the boil and steep for 3 - 5 minutes - or whatever you want! We suggest you taste it first as it's fabulous unaccompanied, but you can add lemon to taste, or sweeten and/or add milk.
