They say time flies when you are having fun! It is astounding to realise that we are already five months into owning Brackendale Tea Co! I have to confess, I have definitely got my favourites like the Cream Earl Grey, Organic Provence Rooibos, Fresh Perspective Peppermint and the OMG Darjeeling. More about that later.
As well as drinking tea, it has been with a little anxiety (hits and misses, rewrites and corrections!) that we have been tweaking the website. Have you noticed that some of the teas now show their ingredients, caffeine/antioxidant levels and regions of origin? We will slowly be adding this info across the range as a way of helping you understand our teas better and allowing you to be able to make more informed decisions when purchasing.
Excitingly, we have also introduced four new lines. Kristie had been courting three of these for a while before we took over, but it took me a little while to pluck up the courage and do it. “Hip Hop Happy Liquorice”, “Rooibos Equilibrium” and “Sassy Hot Black Ginger” now join the family, and I have to say, they are beautiful! As I am a Darjeeling lover, I also decided to introduce one of my favourite teas to the range - the “OMG Darjeeling”. I hope you will try them all and let us know what you think.
Out and about in the community we held our Mad Hatter’s Biggest Morning Tea in May and raised over $700 for the Cancer Council. We have also supplied samplers for a few events around the country including “A Simple Magnificence” collaboration between Jo Whitton, Dani Valent and Fleur Sharpe (three fabulous foodies) in Brisbane in June.
I have loved being able to share our beautiful teas for these types of events and pay some of them forward as gifts.
A big part of my time has also been keeping up the social media side of things, sharing interesting trivia, and useful tips and tricks with tea. If you don’t already follow us on Instagram or Facebook we’d love you to join us. Please feel free to comment and share our posts with your friends - just search for Brackendale Tea Co to stay up to date with info on the teas, and Sales as they come up. For the month of August, we will be promoting a Winter Special! Any orders over $75 will also receive a fabulously funky free novelty infuser.
If you do already follow us on social media, then you may have seen a post with the book “The Tea Gardens” by Fiona McIntosh in a photo. I am totally busting to tell you some wild news. Reading this book has inspired Alex and I to do something a little crazy. We have booked a trip for a month (this September) to visit northern India. Not only will we be doing some sightseeing and visiting my big brother and nephew who live there and run an orphanage and school for Indian kids, but we are doing something to extend and deepen our knowledge of tea. We will spend a week or so among the Tea Gardens in Darjeeling with the Asian School of Tea learning more about tea, so we can serve you better. Stay tuned for more and follow us on social media to see how our trip goes.
Lastly, since taking over Brackendale Tea Co we have received some lovely encouragement, feedback and suggestions. Thank you if you have been in touch, or commented on our FB page. We love hearing from you. Please feel free to drop us a line anytime via the website or on social media. We like your “likes” and we love your comments even more! We live in a beautiful country and we’d love to see a post of you enjoying your Brackendale teas wherever you are!
I’ll drop you another update in the Spring when we return from our Indian trip. Until then, happy sipping.
Big love,
Anthea
