As strange as this combination might sound to the untrained ear, the union of classic Scottish Caramel and traditional Chinese Pu-erh can trace its origins back to the 17th century. Ok, maybe the actual tea itself can't trace its origins back to the 17th century, but that century does mark the first instance in recorded history that an ethnic Chinese person set foot in the UK.

The year was 1685 when a Jesuit scholar named Shen Fu Tsong made the journey from Nanjing to the United Kingdom, ultimately finding himself in the court of King James II. Evidently, the Chinese scholar made such an impression on the King, that he had a portrait of Shen painted and hung in the royal bedchamber. To this day, the portrait, in which Shen is shown holding a Catholic cross, hangs in the Royal personal art collection as a testament to this historical cultural exchange.

In order to celebrate this joining of cultures, our Master of Taster has blended an exceptional organic Pu-erh with all natural Scottish Caramel flavouring. The result is nothing short of exceptional. Smooth and sweet with deep notes of caramel and toffee, this is one tea we feel also warrants a spot in the queen's royal collection.

Why should you be drinking Org. Scottish Caramel Pu-erh?

Pu-erh is a fermented tea from China's Yunnan province. For centuries, it has been used by practitioners of Chinese Medicine to aid digestion, break down fat in the body, treat arteriosclerosis and more. Conversely, Scottish Caramel has been used for centuries to satisfy the sweet tooth in sweets lovers the world over. Win/win!
