This special smoked tea has a distinctive flavour that is sometimes referred to as tarry or smokey, and is affectionately known amongst some of our customers as our "bacon" tea. It's a special tea from the Fujian Province. Legend claims that the smoking process was discovered by accident - the tea workers had been delayed by soldiers, then to get the tea to market on time, they tried to hasten the drying process by lighting open fires. Not only did the tea reach the market on time, the smoked pine flavour created a sensation! The Lapsang method of production is lengthy and involved but the result is thick, glossy, black strips that produce a dark red beverage with a unique aroma and taste.
